About the event

In this workshop lead by Susan Keller, participants will explore the powerful intersection of attachment theory, trauma-informed care, and mindfulness in creating a nurturing classroom environment that supports the diverse needs of all students. Participants will gain insight into the brain's response to stress and its impact on learning and behavior while learning practical strategies to promote resilience, well-being, and positive developmental outcomes. Incorporating co-regulation, mindfulness, and neuroscience principles, educators will be better equipped to manage students' emotions, enhance attention and focus, and create a trauma-sensitive classroom that fosters secure attachments and builds resilience in every child.

Susan Keller holds a Master of Science in Kinesiology from Indiana University and is currently the Health and Wellness Teacher at Edgewood Intermediate School in Bloomington, Indiana. In addition to her M.S., she holds a certification in Mindfulness-Based Wellness and Pedagogy, a graduate certificate in Applied Educational Neuroscience with an emphasis on Adversity/ Trauma and the Brain from Butler University, and is a certified Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) practitioner through the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development at Texas Christian University. She specializes in integrating attachment theory and trauma-informed care at the elementary school level to support the diverse needs of all students, including those who have experienced adversity, while promoting resilience, well-being, and positive developmental outcomes for every child in the classroom.
